To examine the detailed structure of low-energy magnetic excitations in a high-transition-temperature superconducting cuprate with heavily hole-doping, we performed inelastic neutron scattering experiments on La$$_{1.75}$$Sr$$_{0.25}$$CuO$$_{4}$$. We observed clear dispersion relations of the previously reported incommensurate (IC) magnetic correlations at $$Q_{rm tet}$$ = (0.5 $$pm$$ $$delta$$, 0.5)/(0.5, 0.5 $$pm$$ $$delta$$). In addition, we show the emergence of continuum magnetic excitations with a ring shape centered at $$Gamma$$ point $$Q_{rm tet}=(0.5, 0.5)$$ in a constant energy spectrum at $$T$$ = 50 K. The radius of the ring ($$r$$ = 0.109) is smaller than the incommensurability ($$delta$$ = 0.118). This suggests that the origin of the ring-like excitations is different from that of the IC magnetic correlations, and the low-energy magnetic excitations of the La$$_{2-x}$$Sr$$_{x}$$CuO$$_{4}$$ system are inherently composed of these two kinds of excitations.

We have measured the specific heat and magnetization up to 50 T of polycrystalline samples of RCrTiO$$_{5}$$ (R=Pr, Nd, Eu, Sm and Gd) and also carried out powder neutron diffraction experiments of NdCrTiO$$_{5}$$ and Nd$$_{0.5}$$Pr$$_{0.5}$$CrTiO$$_{5}$$. From the analyses of specific heat data and magnetization curves up to 50 T of the systems, we have evaluated the magnetic interactions between the Cr$$^{3+}$$ - Cr$$^{3+}$$ magnetic moments and between the Cr$$^{3+}$$ -R$$^{3+}$$ ones. The temperature dependence of neutron magnetic reflection intensities of NdCrTiO$$_{5}$$ indicate that both the Cr$$^{3+}$$-moments and the Nd$$^{3+}$$-moments simultaneously order at $$T_mathrm{N}$$. Basis of the obtained magnetic behavior, the mechanism of magnetoelectric effect of RCrTiO$$_{5}$$ will be discussed.

Spin state of superconducting URu$$_2$$Si$$_2$$ probed by $$^{29}$$Si Knight shift

In heavy-fermion compound URu$$_2$$Si$$_2$$, unconventional superconductivity appears in the so-called "hidden order" (HO) state with a superconducting (SC) transition temperature of $$T_{rm SC}$$ = 1.4 K. In the H$$_{0}$$ state, long-range electronic order is well established below $$T_{rm HO}$$ = 18 K, but the order parameter has so far been undetectable, and hence has not yet been identified. It is an intriguing subject to clarify the mechanism of superconductivity in the HO state. We have performed $$^{29}$$Si $$K$$ measurements using a high-quality single crystal of URu$$_2$$Si$$_2$$. The extremely narrow NMR spectra obtained for the single crystal allowed us to achieve much higher experimental resolution. We will discuss the possible SC pairing state from our $$K$$measurement.
